Objective: One of my favorite actors is John Hurt. He was unrecognizeable as John Merrick in "The Elephant Man", and delivered one of the most downright heart-rending performances ever seen in a movie. You probably remember him best as the first person to have "Alien" gnaw its way out of his guts and burst through his stomach. For many of us, he defined the character of Winston Smith in the film of George Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty-Four". He even made the tragic, lecherous Stephen Ward of "Scandal" seem like someone you might want to have a beer with (or at least offer a Kleenex and a pat on the shoulder to). John Hurt is nothing if not diverse, and though my brief summary of his work ends in 1990, he has made at least two movies a year every year for the past 30. What a guy! Have a go at reviewing all of the movies he starred in from all phases of his extensive and varied career. Matches 1 to 20 out of 113 |
