Lemmy in for #897.

Minor spoiler for Blue Valentine.

The Shirley Valentine review is old and cheesy.

The 2009 3D My Bloody Valentine was a remake of the obscure 1981 Canadian film of the same name reviewed here.

Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember

So here are my movie Cliff notes:
a) Alvin And The Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked: Playing around while aboard a cruise ship, the Chipmunks and Chipettes accidentally go overboard and end up marooned in a tropical paradise. They are traveling with Dave Seville. It is just WAY like Joe vs. the Volcano to me. Personally, I'm a sucker for those Chipmunk movies.
b) Idiocracy: Private Joe Bauers, the definition of "average American", is selected by the Pentagon to be the guinea pig for a top-secret hibernation program. Forgotten, he awakes 500 years in the future. He discovers a society so incredibly dumbed-down that he's easily the most intelligent person alive. Running afoul of the powers that be, Joe is sentenced to a day of "rehabilitation"; an execution disguised as a public demolition derby, billed as "Monday Night Rehabilitation". Extreme!
c) The Social Network: Mark Zuckerberg creates Facebook and runs up against a lot of legal problems. He's being sued for $600 million by his former best friend, Eduardo Saverin. He's also being sued by the Winklevoss twins for allegedly stealing the whole concept. He's trashed an ex-girlfriend in a blog. Basically, he's alienated everyone he's ever known or been friends with. The film ends with Zuckerberg sending a friend request to his former girlfriend on Facebook, and refreshing the page every few seconds waiting for a response that never comes.
d) The Station Agent: When his only friend dies, Finbar McBride, born with dwarfism, moves to rural New Jersey to live a life of solitude, only to meet a chatty hot dog vendor and a woman dealing with her own personal loss. When queried about his working, Fin says he is retired. The woman asks if he isn't too young to retire. Fin tells her it is a common fact that dwarves retire early. Her reply is "Yeah, lazy dwarves."
e) Warm Bodies: A romantic comedy with a new twist on a classic love story about a zombie and a human survivor who form a special relationship in their struggle for survival. It's being advertised as a Twilight Saga for zombies.

Playing cops and robbers

N.B.
Tony Leung plays a undercover cop in a Triad gang in "Infernal Affairs"
"Training Day" features Dr Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg in the cast.
In "On Dangerous Ground" Ida Lupino plays a blind woman who attracts a troubled city cop investigating a murder in her town.

p.s. I missed voting on some people last round so I've applied extra votes separate from this round's offerings.
