Objective: You're a love-lorn gentleman of Venice, desperate to impress a noblewoman of Belmont but without the money to do so. Enter your Merchant buddy Antonio, who agrees to loan you the money: problem is, he doesn't have it either. So, off to the moneylender Shylock, who lends the money on the proviso that if he defaults on the loan that he pay him with a pound of his own flesh. Of course, Antonio's ships sink, his loan is deaulted, and despite Bassiano's love match, the pound must be paid. Or must it?
