Objective: Award winning and controversial Danish director Lars Von Trier broke into public consciousness with his Danish TV series "Kingdom" and gained international recognition in the 90s with his challenging "Golden Heart" trilogy: "Breaking the Waves", "The Idiots" and "Dancer in the Dark". These were followed by the exceptional "Dogville" part of the as yet unfinished America Trilogy shot entirely on chalk marked sound stages. "Antichrist" was variously called a masterpiece and the most offensive mainstream film ever made, and his follow up "Melancholia" was overshadowed at Cannes by a typical press conference gaff blown up into a media frenzied scandal. Cinematic genius or misogynist Nazi-sympathizing idiot? One thing is certain Lars and his films produce strong reactions. Matches 1 to 16 out of 16 |
