I've mentioned this a few times over the years, but it would be great if it could be looked at.
On the main part of the site, even if one doesn't tick Remember me and does click Logoff, one is still logged on. This is really a nuisance/risk when using public computers. |

Don't worry - if someone signs on as you and starts trolling their way across the fourum, I think we'll realise pretty quickly.

Depending on the settings I think one can't always do that, in my experience. It's also hard to navigate menus that are not in English!
I think if one hasn't ticked 'Remember me', then clicking 'Log off' should log one off. This is the only website I have known where that doesn't happen. |

I must admit, I'm more than a little curious as to why you wouldn't be able to read the language of the computer you're using- presumably, if you were in another country you'd have at least a basic grasp of the language?
Never mind... I'm surprised to hear the computers you're using are wisely configured to lock down what you can do on them but are also stupidly configured to retain user data, rather than doing a user data wipe down when you log off the machine. Even in the more remote Internet cafes I've been to they do this, and if they didn't I'd avoid them like the plague as there's a lot worse things they could be retaining besides my fwfr login.

I do agree absolutely but you have to understand I'm developing the new site to eradicate this issue. As far as I'm concerned the current site is on it's way out and messing around with things like this is therefore wasted effort, especially when this can be avoided simply by using a reputable Internet cafe. |

Do you know how difficult Polish is?! And people do occasionally go on holiday to countries where they cannot speak the language!

Well, there aren't just private computers and Internet cafes, you know. There are lots of semi-public computers in the world (such as in gyms and hostels). These have not been set up by people running a computer-based business or who necessarily know anything about them and therefore things which seem incongruous to you are not necessarily so unlikely. Further, I didn't mention logging off the machine: I was talking about machines that are on all the time, as I hadn't thought about that making any difference. In future I'll restart such machines then, if that would clear it, as I can manage to do that even in Polish.

That's fine then; that's all you needed to say. |

Sorry, I assumed you were working out there - something which would be a stupid thing to do if you had no idea about the language, obviously. I guess you're just there a week or two.
For future reference anyway...

I was indeed working out there till January, but only teaching English wholly via English. (That's pretty standard practice in TEFL as many classes are multilingual.) When I posted this thread I was only back for a visit of a month or so. |
