Just caught this and was nearly knocked over by the coach-and-horses that was driving through the plot loopholes. Yes, I know that this film is a Hollywood actioner with all the ingredients.

1.Nicholas Cage
2.Terrible haircut for same
3.Vaguely sci-fi premise but nothing too taxing
4.Unrewarding role for actress who falls for Cage
5.Explosions
6.Video game style shootout
7.Techno Euro Villains

Yet even the most standard Nic Cage Bay-a-like needs at least some INTERNAL LOGIC. The macguffin doesn't make sense for a start - SPOILER ALERT***********Why are the Russians smuggling a device into California? Then theres the whole thrust of the plot ie the reason for the chase. Given that his precog powers are limited to a bit of collision avoidance why would everyone be after him? Why are the villains so keen to eliminate him? Even within the films low-level logic it makes no sense.

Cage must have needed some double-glazing as this is one of his most phoned-in performances yet. Jessica Biehl is very pretty but has to do little except be the damsel. Everyone is a cardboard cut-out.

I like my friday night popcorn movies but this was just ....dumb!
