isteratter's "Lester is a molester" sounds an awful lot like my "Lester's almost a molester" for American Beauty. |

I have 30 votes for Ani mated
Noncentz has 32 votes for Ani mated
Same series. "Ani Mated" is my #2 review by votes.
I don't have that much fight in me these days. Could you point me to one of your famous raves, and I can cut and paste?

A crystal-clear case of a dupe. Have you told noncentz about this one? There's a good chance he doesn't know about it. And it wouldn't surprise me if he gave the dupe the bullet himself if he knew about it.
I haven't - I'm a bit uneasy about it, having done similarly - it's just, as you say, "clear cut". I agree "great minds think alike", but that's why often when something's "popped into my head", I try to check around to see if it's been done... because there's a good chance that's the source of my own "idea". But I'm definitely guilty of consciously borrowing as well. There's something to be said for whether the same four words extract a different context or lend additional meaning when applied to a different film.
BTW, I did make it all the way through Mguyx's "mother of all rants", but I think I must have passed out some time after that. Does he hire himself out for thesis papers?
Now I'm back to it. The whole Paul/Foxboy course is well worth reading. For those who haven't studied the rants, just so you know, the Mguy makex footnotes.

If I remember rightly (I haven't checked), mine was first, but bife rightly did not delete his since I was thinking of deleting mine, which I still am.

George_Kaplan's (mine) is earlier, although Whipper has all the votes, lucky devil.

Whilst I both acknowledge and admire George's genius, both in this review and elsewhere, the reviews are not identical as mine is a more direct misquotation. Personally I prefer my review but no-one else has to agree with that.
I suppose someone has to decide how close two reviews can be before they are considered duplicates. Difficult when great minds think alike... |

That's certainly debatable I suppose. "DeWinters suffer discontent" is actually a direct quotation (by way of a pun) of "The winter(s) of our discontent." ["suffer"="'s of our"] Subtle, I know.
I have been looking at whipper's votes though and can return the compliment. In fact I have sprinkled some votes his way. |

Dammitall, both of them are good. I just unsheathed the Voting Hammer and Smote both of you admiringly. |

I had missed the subtlety, but then I usually do. You will find that a vote for the review has now flooded in. Personally I blame Shakespeare for all this.
Whilst we're here George, I've done a few Buster Keaton reviews for your delectation, inspired by some of his films shown here over Xmas. I was absolutely astonished by "The Playhouse".
