No hard feelings no-one agrees with me on this, and I know what you're all saying, but... what are we to do? Ban films which are about the same subject as one already on the site?
If not, do we expect reviewers to not just check all reviews against the current film for a dupe, but also those of any film which may have the same subject? The same would also have to apply to editors, which would slow the editorial process further.
It's a nice ideal to aim for, but pretty much impossible to enforce, not to mention unfair for reviewers justifiably trying to review one film, unaware of the other similarly themed films on the site.
This isn't anything like the series rule- those are related films where, given Hollywood's laziness, you expect repeated themes. It would be very easy to copy the same fwfr across a whole series of such films (and, boy, are there a lot of these). I don't see the same ease with totally unrelated films and I'm further convinced of this given the amount of time it's taken for this to happen/ be spotted.
I care about the integrity of the site, but I also care about keeping the site the right side of fun for reviewers and this just seems too darned ridiculously strict. In the grand scale of things, dupes on a few small films don't amount to more'n a hill of beans on this ol' site.

I tend to agree with benj on this one, it's simply too hard to find duplicate reviews across the 120,000 on the site to have an official policy on getting rid of them. Secondly, is there really anything badly wrong with having a good review appear twice given that it increases the likelihood that it gets seen and enjoyed?
Having said that, I'm not at all comfortable with having a review in my pile that someone else thought of first for another film. I deleted "Brat out of hell" last year from my pending pile for The Omen when I saw it appear for Little Nicky. And I Smitheed "Fight Cub" for Boxing Cats when I saw that it was already on Two Brothers (and it still has more votes! ).
So, if you don't want to keep the review, bife, (and I totally understand why not, it simply comes down to respect for a fellow fwfrer) then delete it or Smithee it. Smitheeing it will generally stop the accumulation of votes (Alan doesn't play FYCTH ) and make it clear who wrote it first. And if you delete it, then foxy can always FYCTH it and get some of the votes back. I suspect plenty of the votes are dupes anyway.

I do understand why it is difficult to enforce as a rule - but it still makes me feel uncomfortable. Anyway, it's gone now - sorry you don't get the votes, foxy!

Is this a dupe on Johnny English:
Double 0 Bean from ddragongrl
and
Double-O-Bean from Animagess.
Or are O and 0 different, so both are OK?

I count three seperate reviews of that film which I had previously submitted and which were rejected as "too generic."

Er, it's still there... I actually came across it just now, and dropped into this thread to mention it - didn't know GHcool had already pointed it out.

Don't think these need to be corrected but just wanted to point out a meeting of the minds.
Shoon and I both had the same review accepted on the same day - for different films with almost the same title...
I wrote, for Mom's Got a Date With a Vampire - "Court Dracula" http://www.fwfr.com/display.asp?ID=12479
Shoon wrote, for Date With a Vampire - "Court Dracula" http://www.fwfr.com/display.asp?ID=12125
Both accepted June 30. He learns well, my young one.

Benj, I may be wrong but at number 3 in your UK charts you have the film 'Decent', shouldn't it be 'The Decent' directed by Neil Marshall. I only noticed this because I watched it last night and was going to try and think of a review for it.
