One of Funty's reviews of "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones" is very nearly a direct quote from the film. The review is "Begins, Clone war does," which is almost identical to the last line of the film (spoken by Yoda, of course) "Begun, the Clone Wars have."
Is that different enough to warrant its inclusion? I don't know. It's benj's call, I just wanted to bring it to his attention.

I don't have a problem with it since, whether you treat it as a quote or not, it's still a summary of the film.

Joe Blevins's excellent "Sith hits the fans" review for Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace has now appeared for Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith.
I might be in a minority here, but I don't think it needs to appear twice for Star Wars, and fits Menace better. Secondly, I just thought I'd plug Joe's excellent review, and would be quite happy to see it overtake mine which is currently top on that page, as IMHO Joe's is better.

Sludge and Rovark both have variations on the same gag for Revenge of the Sith:
"Episode III = Sith Film" "Episode III, Si(x)th Film"

Bridge on the River Kwai ...
Soda's "Kwai me a river" with 12 votes came before Kinema's "Kwai me a river."
P.S. I love that review, Soda!

Along the lines of Sean's post:
Noncentz's "Ani mated" for Star Wars III duplicates Sludge's "Ani mated" for Star Wars II. It really is a better fit for Star Wars II, since that's the movie in which Anakin gets "mated" (defined as "To become joined in marriage").
Ciao.

...although episode three is the first one where there's actual evidence Anakin and Padme did the horizontal mambo.
Hmm... discuss?

Well if I married Natalie Portman, I wouldn't be waiting for the sequel before "giving her some Jedi".
I can't say that I'm a fan of duplicate reviews across a series, I suppose the main reason is that it takes something away from the original writer of the review. Also, if it's considered a generally acceptable practice then it might be just a matter of time before it's open-season on copying the best reviews across the series. I certainly won't be doing it, but somebody might.
Just as an example, here are some of the highest-voted reviews from LOTR (the three movies), and most (if not all) of these could arguably apply to any film in the series, so in theory could be copied by somebody some day. There is already a duplicate there (Hard Hobbit to Break), and the second one has the most votes.
Long, but hobbit forming. Child smuggling ring discovered.
Jackson shoots JRR.
Elvish is alive.
Are they there yet?
Tolkien with New Zeal. Hard hobbit to break.
The original Tolkien picture.
Short hero, long movie.
Frodo fingers Sauron's ring.
Orcs' downfall elf-inflicted.
Painfully stretched ring-piece.
Hard Hobbit to break.
Old hobbits die hard...
etc. |
