"Let's Get OUTTA Here!"

Last nite I posted a quote in another area of Fourum(probably not an appropriate area at that), and offered a bounty of votes to anybody who could name the film and the actor/actress who spoke it. Not 30 minutes later, a respected reviewer stopped by and nailed down what I thought would stand for at least an hour.

It got me thinking... I could probably list an obscure quote from the most innocuous of flicks, and somebody would straggle by an knock it outta the park.

I've been wanting to do something with quotes ever since I started trying to guess the source of Animal Mutha's bi-weekly inspirations in FYCTH, so here's the game, be it simple and or tired/tried...

Simply Guess the film that a listed quote derives from, maybe add the actor/actress who uttered the line or perhaps the context, and I'll visit your pages to drop some(10+) votes on ya. The first to guess correctly will be visited, but then becomes responsible for listing the next quote in the thread. When that quote is guessed, the previous winner/lister of the current quote becomes responsible for visiting the reviewer who correctly guessed, and so on...

Pretty simple stuff, we'll see how or if it evolves.

My quote...

"ehhh, purple lightning... That's always a good sign!"

That is from Cabin Boy, and I think it was said by the late Brion James' character, Big Teddy?

Very impressive, Livie... That quote comes from one of my all-time favorite 'guilty pleasures' flicks 'Cabin Boy.' Perhaps not the most obscure of quotes, but one I thought would stand a bit longer than it did.

Choose a quote of your own, then sit back and enjoy the bevy of votes I now will throw your way. Always a big fan, I now have a reason to visit your pages and grace them with more votes.

Yes, Brion James uttered that line, I think while the Cabin Boy was serving up 'fish-stick kitties'. A great character actor and Vietnam Veteran, he was taken too soon. I'm still waiting for his final flick, 'Phoenix Point' to hit DVD, so I can check out his final offering and yet another post-apocalyptic treat, one of my favorite genres.

Impressive also is your correct spelling of James' name, you know your stuff!

Yes, as much as I am loathe to admit it, I've seen Cabin Boy more than once. It was so absurd that it cries for re-viewing. Okay, I'll go. My quote is from one of my favorite films. Name the film, the actor who said it, and the character's name:

Yeah, a landlord's dream: a paralyzed tenant with no tongue.

I've followed him for years, he's one of those character actors that seemed to pop up in every other film I'd see - Blade Runner, Enemy Mine, Dead Man Walking (the first one), the 48 Hours films, The Fifth Element, etc. etc. He had a face that was hard to forget. I just saw Enemy Mine again about a week ago. It's an AMC favorite that isn't quite as overshown as they do say... Young Guns.

And let us not forget Tango and Cash, where they taped a grenade to his mouth and taunted him with the F.U.B.A.R. scenario... Some of his best acting, tho he was unable to speak a line!

Every reviewer would know him if they saw him, but you nailed the spelling... Kudos, and.. I appreciated him in the 'Fifth element' and 'Blade Runner' to name just 2. Every time I spot him now, I'll know where to come to sing his praises. Was shocked to hear of his passing, heart attack no less.

Ah, Big Teddy, if you only knew you had a fan base!

Oh yeah, now I have to re-watch 'Enemy Mine' so I can spot him, didn't particularly enjoy it the first couple times... The freakin' humanity, Livie!

Yeah, a landlord's dream: a paralyzed tenant with no tongue.

Have waited for more than 12 hours to see if someone else will take a crack at it, but no. So, I'll answer it.

Film name: Se7en
Actor: Brad Pitt
Character: Detective David Mills

Thanks, WHL.

Here goes...

Identify the film, the characters A&B and the actors playing them.

A: Yeah. Two. Sure hope I can see them swinging on a jungle gym with your junior some day.
B: Ha Ha, well, now that's a date but you're gonna have to bring the ice cream.

I'm fairly sure I know what film it was in, I just can't recall the character. "What kind of experimenting? They got monkeys opening it or what?"
