Again, not exactly a hero, but Michael Clayton doesn't have time to read his son's book/stay at his dad's birthday party. He's presumably divorced for a similar reason.

I'm not totally sure, but I do think that Unbreakable might fit your bill.




His marriage actually got better once he became a hero, so it doesn't apply.
