This guy with glasses and a striped red & white ski hat keeps showing up in crowd scenes. Sometimes waving at the camera.

Oh... I didn't realize I had gotten this right until livie told me.

Okay...

The original script said that one of the characters should look alot like this famous actor, but the writer didn't actually think that the actor would end up playing the part - but they did!

What movie am I thinking of and who was the actor and the character the actor played?

Okay - a hint. Livie has the right gender. Male actor, not female.

Of course, the first thing this question made me think of doesn't fit whatsoever. It reminds me of Arsenic & Old Lace. But the character was supposed to look like Boris Karloff, with the hope that Karloff would play it. Instead it was Raymond Massey and they continued to say he looked like Boris Karloff. Unless, I'm wrong.. and that's who it is.
