Yes, Clint Eastwood was the oldest. The youngest was Norman Taurog for the film Skippy. Taurog's win came at the ageo fo 32 years (and 260 days) in the 1930/31 Academy Awards. The youngest best director nominee was John Singleton for Boyz N the Hood at 24 years (and 44 days), while the oldest best director nominee was John Huston at 79 years (and 184 days) for Prizzi's Honor.

It's up to either BaftaBabe or MM0rkeleb to go next.

Sorry for the delay (I was away this weekend).

OK, here's my trivia (again Oscar related):

Who is the only Oscar-winning director to have attended the Throop College of Technology?

Hint: It's not called Throop etc. anymore. These days it's a more well-known Institute of Technology.

I thought it might be Howard Hawks but he never won an Oscar, only got an honourary one.

Another hint: the reason I know this is I attended the same school. Consequently, if you look around my fwfr stuff, you can find the answer.

Correct! Frank Capra was originally going to be a biochemist, but due to WWI ending couldn't find a job. Years later he turns up directing films, and the rest is history.

I was confused at first, I immediately thought "MIT" and just couldn't figure it out. Be back soon with a new question.

The last line of one of my very favorite old movies is Oh, my dear, that's something you need never worry about!

1) Name the film.
2) Name the actor/actress who said it.
3) Name the actor/actress to whom it was said.

I had to check this one. At first I thought it was from The Man Who Came To Dinner but when I checked it wasn't there. From that I got to a couple other dinner movies and ended up with:

1) Dinner at Eight
2) The actress who said it was Marie Dressler playing Carlotta Vance
3) She says it to Jean Harlow playing the part of Kitty

And for extra credit, the reference is that Jean Harlow read in a book (yes, she read a book!) that machines were eventually going to take over all professions, and that's what Carlotta's reply to that statement was.

Very funny!

That mean I'm next?

Somehow I just KNEW you'd get it. I made it too easy, didn't I? Jean Harlow herself was, in fact, quite intelligent.

Yup, you're next!!

Okay...

What do Julie Andrews, Frances McDormand, Gena Rowlands, Susan Sarandon and Joanne Woodward (among others) all have in common besides being nominated for Oscars for Best Actress?

They were nominated for or won Best Actress Oscars for roles in which they were directed by their significant others.
