Joss Whedon's modern-dress MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING is the most delightful film adaptation of this play I've ever seen. Shot in SuperBlack&Whiteo, mostly in Whedon's house, with mostly his friends as cast and crew, it depedestalizes the Bard and gives us the essence: slapstick and pathos.

This one works even on Shakeophobes: you hear right through the iambic pentameter, to the point that the speech sounds as contemporary as the images look.

I don't know much about most of Whedon's tv series, so bigger fans will notice a lot more members of his rep company, but I couldn't shake the thought that I'd seen Claudio (Fran Kranz) somewhere before. Turns out he cleans up real good: he was the *stoner* in THE CABIN IN THE WOODS!

Thanks to all concerned. Thumbs way up.
