"I like to watch."

Here's another one that's just an hour and a half of fun. It's the best, and smartest, family CGI picture I've seen since RANGO. Count Dracula was widowed by a bunch of humans with torches and pitchforks and left alone to raise his [natch, vampire] daughter. So he vows to keep her away from humans, cons her into thinking they're all animals, and builds a big hotel strictly for monsters. But a sweet, goofy human backpacker wanders in, guess who falls for him, and hilarity ensues.

The typical subtext of prejudice and tolerance of the "different," sure, but what sets this apart is the whip-smart imagination of the writers [one of whom is the great, anarchic Robert Smigel] and the visual design. You will laugh no matter what your age is; the very tiniest little ones may be startled by the Count's shock-cut "scare face," which appears several times, but otherwise the monsters are as lovable as they can be. A superb rental.
