Well now, Bill Murray is fantastic as the almost grandfatherly FDR, I say almost grandfatherly as the main (just about) plot is about the 'special relationship' he has with his distant cousin and a different kind of special relationship he has with King George VI when he came to visit in 1939.
Maybe the filmmakers were relying so much on Murray's riveting performance, a great cast and lovely period feel that they forgot to tighten up the plots and sub plots because besides Murray and a couple of pantomime Royals this comes across as a very good if romanticised Made for TV movie.
