TA:MOU = Themed Anniversary: Moving On Up
The Rules
Each Tuesday a theme will be decided based on the Anniversary of some significant event. All you have to do is trawl your reviews for any that relate to that event and post them here with a link.
You can post as many as you wish, so long as either the film or your review clearly relates to the theme. You can only post during the week of the current TA:MOU.
You don't have to say you voted unless you really want to - but you are expected to visit all the links posted.
ON THIS DAY: 11 December Today TA:MOU visits the ancient world to find ... passion!
> More than a thousand years ago, in 969, the Byzantine Empress Theophano facilitated the murder of hubby Nikephoros II Phokas. The Emperor had become increasingly unpopular due to his policies of economic austerity in the light of successive poor harvests. Besides fighting numerous political and military enemies, Nikephoros imposed heavy taxes on both laity and church.
The Emperor's nephew John I Tzimiskes became Theophano's lover. She smuggled him into the royal bedchamber where he committed the actual murder. Although they never married, Tzimiskes later assumed the role of Emperor - reigning for just over a year.
So let's see all your films made in 963. No, just kidding! Today TA:MOU wants to see your reviews for films whose central theme or plot has to do with crimes of passion - especially murdering a spouse.
Our first Birthday Alternative, too, takes inspiration from the ancient world.
> Pope Leo X (1475 1521) - films featuring Popes
