TA:MOU = Themed Anniversary: Moving On Up

The Rules

Each Tuesday a theme will be decided based on the Anniversary of some significant event. All you have to do is trawl your reviews for any that relate to that event and post them here with a link.

You can post as many as you wish, so long as either the film or your review clearly relates to the theme. You can only post during the week of the current TA:MOU.

You don't have to say you voted unless you really want to - but you are expected to visit all the links posted.

ON THIS DAY: 27 November
Timely TA:MOU marks two wildly differing topics to show off your cine-wares: storms and parades

> In 1703 the Great Storm swept across the UK, destroying the first Eddystone Lighthouse. Thirteen Royal Navy vessels were lost. The disaster was marked by folk songs, and inspired Daniel Defoe's first book The Storm, published in 1704. Sobering statistics reveal the extent of this widely reported horrific event.

In light of recent similar stormy nasties, post up your reviews for all films whose plots depend on the ravages of weather.

> In 1924 New York City hosted the first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. It originally celebrated the pride that immigrants felt in their adopted country, and from the first was designed to herald in the winter holidays.

Tied with Detroit's parade as the 2nd oldest in the US, it was established as an annual institution, becoming more and more elaborate, and attracting participants and audiences from around the globe.

A prominent feature of the parade is the increasing ingenuity of floats and balloons, many inspired by film characters. So, track down your fwfrs for films featuring any of the latter, and put them on parade.

This week's Birthday Alternatives are:

> Producer David Merrick [1911-2000], whose prolific theatrical output included many plays which were later filmed. Your reviews, please, for the latter.

> Acting dynasty-head John Carradine [19061988] who, in the early 1930s, began a film career that lasted until his death. Please pay your fwfr tribute.
