Dear MERPs, perhaps this can be a thread where people point out reviews that they have altered in the hope that the revised review gets reapproved quickly.

I changed my "Bugsy Malone" review from "Mobsters just get desert" to "Mobsters just get deserts"; the plural deserts is more accurate and makes the aphorism scramble more accurate as well.

Please reapprove it. Thank you.

Thank you MERPs!

For the record, that change/reapproval process took fewer than 4 hours. Accordingly, concerns about delay and undue taking up of quota spots appear to be unfounded. I invite others who seek to have rapid corrections processed to make the request here, as it worked very well for me.

I'm afraid I can't follow how the speed meant that a quota slot wasn't used up. Do enlighten us.

And as for speed itself, that's not something that I for one see any need for here. But I guess some people are less patient than others.

Enlightenment as follows: be mindful of the use of adjectives. In the example cited, the adjective "undue" served as a modifier, as in
"a year-long wait in an ego-driven effort to insist the moderator do his bidding was an UNDUE length of time for the self-absorbed pseudo-pedant to suffer, albeit fun to have watched."
By comparison, one would have difficulty convincing an audience that a wait of fewer than four hours was an "undue" length of time.

The issue is less speed than it is efficiency, though speed is a welcome concomitant.

Dear MERPs

I made a change to my Diary of a Chambermaid (Buuel)review. I thought it disrespectful to have the Master's name without the tilde.

Please reapprove it. Thank you.

Another rapid response!

But it looks like you have a coding issue, unless you meant to spell Buuel "Buñuel". Well, at least they didn't change it.

Thanks to MERP for the speedy response. Can't understand what the coding issue is since I copied and pasted the word from another approved review that shows the tilde properly. There have have been diacritic issues passim.

Guess I'll leave it for benj to make right.

I have resubmitted and it looks fine in the pending list. Why the hell should it change when approved??!!

I rememeber the same issue when I tried to use the code for a properly displayed "1/3" in a review - displayed fine in the submission came out as code in the approval. Never fixed that issue... I changed the review.

Hopefully this is where to get it fixed. I had a couple reviews passed for the film "Who Killed Atlanta's Children?" One of them has an error in spelling of Atlanta: "Investigation into Altanta's investigation." It should be Atlanta, not Altanta. Could that be fixed, and the other one, "Atlantans seek Williams stand-in.." has an extra period at the end. Last time I tried to fix something like that, it kicked it out of approval. Would appreciate the corrections. Thanks.

Oh, and regarding the word ski-lift with a hyphen. I'm not making it up as I go, which one note said. I've tried twice to submit the url for the dictionary page that supports the use of the hyphen and it keeps disappearing on me and I can't get it clear. The url for the page where I found it uses English Collins Dictionary as the source. The url is: http://dictionary.reverso.net/english-cobuild/%20skilift and the page shows ski lift AND ski-lift. The Telegraph webpage http://www.telegraph.co.uk also uses the hyphen.

Lovie, I mean, Livie: you may be in the wrong thread. In this thread, I urged folks to make the corrections themselves and then resubmit the reviews. By alerting the MERPs in this thread, the hope was that it would catch their attention and get expedited processing. Yes, it kicks out of the approval status, but it goes right back in after some MERPy angel processes it on the quick. Worked for me and lemmy!

Your reviews still appear under the "Atlanta" movie, which suggests you want them to change it on their own. If you want to have benj or the MERPS or whomever does maintenance do the correction for you, then you should go to this thread, but it takes about a year to get what you ask for there.

I don't know what that ski lifty thing is about.

Thanks darlin'. I usually get questions when something is not spelled correctly, but those slipped by. (Which is the whole ski-lift thing. I submitted it with the hyphen and keep getting told its not spelled right, that hyphens aren't used with it, so I found a dictionary entry that supports it.) I'll correct my reviews and slip a note with it saying it was already approved and just corrected for spelling and a stray period.

*Actually, fixing the extra period didn't push THAT one back into the queue, but correcting the spelling of Atlanta did. Thanks darlin'.
