Does that call any of these into question?

My review is safe, it was written for a female

Perhaps some could be saved with ' ' around the word 'son'? Whew, at least I don't have any there.

This film called 'Darwin' has some great reviews - at least they would be if it was about the Darwin. It's not - it's about an unmanned probe landing on Titan, one of Saturn's rings.

YOu would think I know that about the movie 'Son of Robin Hood'. I read the IMDB. I did my background checking. My reviews were female based!!!

"Mrs. Robin's son"

But doesn't that mean the wrong hood got the snip.... so to speak.

PS Happy Birthday, I'll be round with some prezzies later.
PPS I've copied this from another thread but I don't know if I can double up on the votes. I'll have to use my MS account.

A number of the reviews for Shawshank Redemption are technically wrong as they reference a prison that does not appear in the movie. It doesn't take place in Alcatraz, Attica or any where else.

It kinda opens the argument of how far reviewers are allowed to stretch the truth in order to make a creative review.

"Out of Attica" and "Tax Man of Alcatraz" are both cute and funny but don't really review the film in question.

I'd say that they do review the film in question, and here's why. The names "Attica" and "Alcatraz" have taken on a larger significance in our language than exclusively referring to specific prisons. Attica and Alcatraz have come to stand in for ALL prisons. Both names are routinely used as a convenient metaphor for any kind of imprisonment. I'd say that Attica and Alcatraz have now become de facto synonyms for the word prison. Substituting any other famous prison name (San Quentin, Folsom, etc.) might be stretching it too far, but the names Attica and Alcatraz have acquired an almost mythic significance in the public's imagination. Those names alone are enough to conjure up a variety of mental images and emotions connected with imprisonment.

It's up to benj, of course, but I'd let both of these reviews slide. Neither of them are mine, so I have no vested interest.

I'm going to sit on the fence on this one because it appears I'm not allowed to have an opinion on such topics.

Edit: And we know how risky smileys can be!

BTW - Think I'm with Joe on this, at least as far as Alcatraz is concerned.

Can't say I agree that Alcatraz or Attica colloquially define all prisons. It's a tenuous stretch at best (just like Tim Robbins' prison stretch!)

I think the prison question here is similar to the "cereal pun" discussion earlier in this post...is creating a pun based on any prison(any cereal, any sports team) acceptable to make a review acceptable?

Don't let whoever get to you. We know you and your opinion is valued and so is everyone else's. Except for meanies. :)
