Larry's FYC this round made me think that it might be nice if we could sort our reviews by the year the movie was released. I can think that it might be useful for something - perhaps one of those vote getting threads - but it certainly isn't necessary, just an interesting idea.

Is it possible (and not too difficult to program)?

If so, does anyone else think its a good idea?

And you thought the guys who translated it from the original into Latin were smart, didn't you?

(Something always gets lost - or in this instance, added - in the translation.)

And an interesting side note...

The larynx in the human throat, noticeably more prominent in males, was consequently called an Adam's apple, from a notion that it was caused by the forbidden fruit sticking in Adam's throat.

Yup, except for oranges.

I was in the debating society at school (how did you guess?!) and the motion once was "This House believes that apples are better than oranges." I think oranges won on the basis that apples were the forbidden fruit, but that's not true, is it? I don't think it's specified.

I don't like oranges, either. Grapefruit, on the other hand...

But as for specifics as to what precise fruit is the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil - nope, nothing in the original text tells you what it is. Just "fruit". I haven't the faintest idea where they got the idea it was an apple.

(It could just as easily have been a kiwi - they're evil fruits, if you ask me.)

Apples and oranges?

Both good.

Sure -- I can see why people would want that feature. I just meant that for me personally submission date would be more advantageous, because I frequently submit pairs or sets of reviews for different films and the approval process separates them.

I was thinking more like, if you wanted to look at all the reviews you'd written for films that came out when you were born - or if you wanted to build an accolade for your favorite/least favorite films that came out a certain year, this might be handy. Also, sometimes you know that some films were based on similar material, but you can't remember when they came out - so you might want to see by film year.

There's also the idea of just looking at what your reviews are of the oldest, or newest films.

I can't remember why I asked for this, I just know I was looking for something in particular, and said "if we could arrange these by film year, that would make this easier" so I suggested it.

Yes, fair enough. Sorry about that. When I read your post it seemed very abrupt and picky, but afterwards I did think you might not have meant it that way. I guess I just meant that I hadn't posted the preference with any claim to its being "helpful".

To give an example of what would be possible if this feature existed, assuming you submitted them together your excellent "Feat of Che" and "Defeat of Che" could be posted together even if they hadn't been approved consecutively. Even though they were, such is not the case on numerous occasions.

What are you talking about? I think it's clear from my wording that it's simply my preference. It allows reviews intentionally submitted together to stay together, for one thing.

Hey that's a great idea!

Again, not a priority by any means, but in terms of ordering by date, I'd much rather be able to order reviews by submission date.
