So I thought I'd make up a new accolade for horror movies in frozen settings. I seem to enjoy this little sub-genre for some reason.

For now I've left off the specifically Christmas-type horrorflicks - not sure if the weather is all that important in any of them.

Snow in Dalkey 'pon Sea ...we are so close to the sea that the salt usually get'd it before it has time to stick but not this morning, out comes the inner child!!!

If you're a million years old, like what I am, you'll remember The Great Storm of 1947. You couldn't open the front door because the snow piled up higher, and with winds and drifting, you couldn't see out of ground floor windows. I was only five, but still remember the extraordinary images. Big fat flakes. Watching the wind blow them upwards and thinking it was snowing upside down. And the quiet - couldn't hear a sound. Scary magic.

Sure have. Back when I was in Chicago we had lots of snow storms. The most 'famous' one I remember was 1967 (some say it was as deep as 6 feet). But my favourite was the one that hit on April 2 one year - talk about a delayed April Fool's Joke! I was at my father's apartment that looked out over Lake Shore Drive and I watched car after car get caught in the build up on the road.
But even in Jerusalem we've had over a foot of snow. I think the last one that deep was 1991 or 1992. The snow we've had since hasn't been much more than several inches. |

We used to when I was little in the early 'eighties, but these few inches are the most I've seen for a long time, especially in London. My two younger cats are totally bewildered. When I was out in it yesterday, I got covered in about thirty seconds. |

We've been chilling this afternoon in London too.
In fact the windchill is about -5 celsius.
