Hi

Was just doing some film research on imdb and happened to see a plot summary for Pecker written by one Joe Blevins. Is that you, dude?

If yes -- cool!

Not to drop a name or anything...oh, hell, I will.

We were fortunate enough to attend the Tony Awards this year [my brother is a Sprint exec, one of the sponsors, and they had a last-minute cancellation], and at the gala afterward, I noticed Mr. Waters standing nearby. My wife is the one who urged me, "When are you ever going to get this chance again?", so I sidled up and had a very nice 5-min conversation with the gracious director. He said, "For HAIRSPRAY, we came here and won everything, but tonight we didn't win anything" [he was referring to unsuccessful Tony musical nominee CRY-BABY] "and winning is better." But the conversation moved beyond his sorrow [probably feigned: "my involvement is just blessing the movie rights"], and he couldn't have been kinder. It was probably my single biggest thrill of the evening. So your boy isn't just a creative icon; he's a mensch too.

Hey, junior detectives: I'm listed somewhere in imDB too. Whooo! Can you find me?

That is me, in fact. I'm kind of a John Waters fanatic, so a lot of Waters-related stuff comes up when you search for my name on the 'net.

Like my review of the 2007 Hairspray movie. Or John answering my question in an interview. Then there's my ongoing project to track down all the songs from his movies. And my outdated but hopefully still interesting guide to his career. And of course my exhaustive account of traveling to New York City to see one of John's art shows.

Sorry to plug all of this stuff at once, but well... the opportunity presented itself.
