I was wondering if you could name some songs that were written about various movies -- not songs from those movies, but inspired by them after the fact.
Randy Newman, for instance, did a song called "Interiors" about Woody Allen's Interiors. "Weird Al" has, of course, done a number of songs about movies. Generally, his strategy is to take a modern blockbuster and tie it to a classic song. He started this with "Yoda" (inspired by The Empire Strikes Back), and has continued with "Jurassic Park," "The Saga Begins" (about Phantom Menace), and "Ode to a Superhero" (about Spider-Man).
I suppose Neil Diamond's "Heartlight" counts, as it was inspired by E.T. but not actually featured in the movie. And I suppose I'll have to mention that ubiquitous "Breakfast at Tiffany's" song, too. But I really want songs like the delightful "King Kong" by Big T. Tyler, a rockin' novelty hit in the 1950s.
Surely you good Fourumers can think of dozens of examples. Let's hear 'em.
CLARIFICATION: I'm looking for songs about specific movies, by the way, not songs about movies in general or about movie stars or life in Hollywood. I'm looking for cases where a song is definitely inspired by one movie in particular. "King Kong" is a great example, for instance, because it even tells the plot of the movie in its lyrics. |

Um, well, now I do.
If you're being as specific as you say, you're going to have to sift through a LOT of other song titles that aren't really about movies, they just mention some actor's name or some character or something. Good luck. |
