This is listed on IMDB as a mini series.

I know nothing about it, just wanted to review it to get an accolade.

Well, of all of Stephen King's work, it the one I was awaiting a film treatment for many years, as I re-read the book year after year.

It's not a tough call at all. It has been clarified numerous times that if something has been presented in film format ever then it is fine. It does not matter whether it has been a series in other instances, and it is totally irrelevant whether it has ever been shown at a cinema. I'm sure we all trust w.h.l. not to have imagined it.

There's no question, it's a TV show: Stephen King has done *many* multi-night miniseries for ABC, of which THE STAND is only one. You'll note that even on the DVD, the story is split into different nights, and repeats the opening credits either three or four times [can't remember how many nights the original ran]. That's how you can tell it was originally a television show: the principals get credit every single night.

Others include IT, ROSE MADDER, THE SHINING, STORM OF THE CENTURY [original to TV!], and DESPERATION. They're all miniseries, although I would argue that they have production values superior to most indies on this site, and they are each one and only one continuous, closed-ended story. I would tend to support the King minis as "films." But they've never been shown in cinemas anywhere [if I'm wrong and they have been, I must ask: how many persons would go to a cinema to watch something they could have seen for free on TV?]. It's a tough call.

I think the salient issue is the DVD full film release.

M-O-O-N, that spells moon.

I remember that a very long time ago this issue arose before.

The first reviews appeared in 2003, so my hunch is that the matter was resolved in favor of letting the item remain. But I do remember distinctly that it was a mini-series, which my then-wife and I watched with great gusto and expectation. It's not hurting me, so I say live and let the good times roll.

"M-O-O-N spells [whatever you want]."

It was repackaged into a LONG movie and it can be bought on DVD, although I believe it is no longer in an openly released version. I can't find it to buy it anywhere.

Thanks for that I went by what IMDB said, didn't know it had been shown as a movie.

Was it created as a movie and can you buy it as a movie?

Cheers

It was first released as a mini-series, but when it was released on DVD, it was as a long film and has been shown thusly on television.
