Apparently as of mid-2008 (just reading the IMDB comments now), Sarah Michelle Geller is NOT going to be portraying Alice. Also it has been retitled so there is a new IMDB listing for "Alice In Wonderland". I am sure it's the same project with Tim Burton directing.

It appears we need a housecleaning on the FWFR list. I'm going to delete my "Bunny. Vampire Slayer."

They are separate projects - Tim Burton's version is a relatively "straight" version of the Lewis Carroll (as much as Burton can be thought to tell a story straight), the no-longer-Gellar one is based on the American McGee computer game which is altogether darker and post-Carroll story.

The non-Gellar one is still in progress and has the same imdb link - here. But you're definitely right about house cleaning - all Buffy references are now defunct. I hope that they do get round to making the McGee version - it's a great idea that would work very well on the big screen.
