Only 8 weeks away from contest #1000!

Whoever wins #999 will have the responsibility of picking a suitable victim for 1000 when we will surely drum up 20+ entrants.

No offense to the Gina Lollobrigidas and Cynthia Erivos and Judd Nelsons of the world but a big name with a lot of FWTO potential will be important to help encourage many entries.

Should we use this thread to list some worthy names that might help the 1K slayer choose someone juicy?

Can we also commit to voting/tallying/posting #999 as early as possible so that we can get 1000 up and running and advertised to Fwiffers as early as possible? We'll need the full week to try to draw in a record number of players. I'd also love all the help I can get in reaching out to Fwiffer friends and badgering them into joining.

Not as far as Im aware. I guess its always possible but Ive seen no indications to think so and not even had that warning myself :/

The sites database host has been having issues lately (looking for alternatives currently) so thats really hit the performance. The fourum seems particularly slow regardless though- Ill try running some maintenance code on it this week and see if that improves anything.

Both the site and I have slowed down a bit.

If John Williams is selected, I've already got a TO in mind.

Wow. 1000.

Ps I've not heard of John Williams, nor many of the actors listed.

Good to have a round 1,000 with either a megastar (any left?) or with somebody/something that most can play/appreciate without reference to imdb or another source

Might be tough given 999 have been used up already!

You may not KNOW John Williams, but I bet you HEARD John Williams. His music in:
Star Wars
Superman
Jurassic Park
Indiana Jones
Etc.

Iits good to see you too bife. Gonna be great to see all the OGs return

I'll enter it, but am away for a few days (effectively away from the internet) and back Sunday morning (fwfr time). So will enter sometime after that.

Good to see you in the Fourum, Sean. Been awhile

Yeah movie musicals would be a fun round.

Let's make a song and dance out of Round 1000

I love the ambition of the previous 999 victims but I'd say it's TOO broad. I personally wouldn't know where to start!
Corduroy Pillow Posted - 11/25/2023 : 05:00:36
How about:

"Any of the previous 999 victims"

Wide creative latitude for infrequent players, a bit retrospective, and a rare opportunity for regular players to have a second chance at the same victim.

We did Broadway, but not movie musicals

Good job for flagging, Ed. Definitely need a round with wide appeal and plenty of obit potential!

To me, none of these actors feel significant enough, and it would be good to stick to the movies rather than someone like Agatha Christie. Weve done actors to death (literally) but how about composers

John Williams feels ideal. Hes contributed to 499 soundtracks (!) and with 53 Academy Award nominations, he is the most nominated living person and second-most nominated in history, after Walt Disney.

Or what if we do a broad category like:

IMDbs Top-Rated Movies

Best Picture Winners

100 Highest-Grossing Films Ever
