Posted - 02/25/2014 : 20:21:42 I'm unemployed and bored in San Francisco, so in the spirit of this thread, I've compiled a list of my 100 (or so) favorite filmmakers. Rather than ranking them individually, I've placed them in tiers: I like the Tier 1 filmmakers more than the Tier 2 filmmakers, etc. So without further ado:
Tier 1 Woody Allen Charlie Chaplin Walt Disney Peter Jackson Chuck Jones Stanley Kubrick Martin Scorsese Steven Spielberg Billy Wilder Robert Zemeckis
Tier 2 Darren Aronofsky Timur Bekmambetov Danny Boyle James Cameron Francis Ford Coppola Michael Curtiz Buster Keaton George Lucas Christopher Nolan Orson Welles
Tier 3 Frank Capra Alfonso Cuaron Paul Greengrass Alfred Hitchcock Steve James John Lasseter David Lean Harold Lloyd (and his director Fred C. Newmeyer) Hayao Miyazaki Kirk Wise and Gary Trousdale
Tier 4 Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker Tim Burton Cameron Crowe Spike Lee Alexander Payne Nick Park Roman Polanski Alex Proyas Henry Selick Quentin Tarantino
Tier 5 William Castle George Cukor Brad Bird Frank Darabont Stanley Donen Sam Fell Fritz Lang F.W. Murnau Ernest B. Schoedsack Don Siegel
Tier 6 John G. Avildsen Kathryn Bigelow Stephen Daldry Roger Donaldson Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu Richard Lester Sidney Lumet James Whale Robert Wise
Tier 7 James L. Brooks Peter Bogdanovich Ron Clements and John Musker Joe Dante Terry Jones Sam Mendes Jason Reitman Gary Ross Paul Verhoeven Peter Weir
Tier 8 Michael Apted Tex Avery Bill Condon Andrew Davis Richard Fleischer Ron Howard John Landis Michael Moore Vincente Minnelli Robert Stevenson
Tier 9 Ben Affleck David Attenborough Stephen Chow Dave and Max Fleischer Kore-Eda Hirokazu Ub Iwerks Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave, not The Great Escape) Georges Melies Andrew Stanton William Wyler |

What if they all contributed to one of those compilation films, and you assigned each one a topic for a one-minute film. Maybe an overall theme. Or not. I'm thinking RoGoPag type thing.
