Posted - 10/16/2013 : 13:17:04 I didn't get it at first. So much action. Too much lens flare. Underneath the CGI and fanboy references theres a love story. I know Kirk and Spock is a trope and much loved in slash fanfiction but this really brought it to life. Reversing the "Ship out of Danger" scene was cute but it also had 1000% more oomph than the one in the Shatnerverse. You actually gave a s***.
Someone should tell Abrams " enough already with the lens flare! "

Posted - 10/29/2013 : 10:49:12 I didn't see the majesty of either the Wise TREK #1 or the Abrams reboot. We ought to be able to use all the technological bells and whistles at our command to show grandeur, immensity, and those scale-setting shots were by and large limited to Star Fleet. Also, the literal deus ex the literal machina?
The filmmakers are sharp and smart, no doubt about that, and flipping tropes from past movies can't help but lure fanboys, but I'm your classic control group: I adored TOS and have never watched any TREK tv since, and I still didn't see anything new. |
