I realize I'm about 6 years late in saying anything about this film, but this is the first time I've had the chance to see it and do so in the same month that I had another new one for comparison. Personally, I sat and bawled my eyes out through the last half or so of this film. I've really not ever seen Adam Sandler's real acting chops until this film and it moved me. Even in the scenes where he finally broke down to talk about the loss of his wife and daughters, he was both so full of emotion and reserved at the same time. He was equally as powerful in the scene after his court appearance and break down when he was talking to his in-laws (" I don't need to talk about her or look at pictures... 'cause the truth is, a lot of times, I see her... on the street. I walk down the street, I see her in someone else's face... clearer than any of the pictures you carry with you. I get that you're in pain, but you got each other. You got each other! And I'm the one who's gotta see her and the girls all the time. Everywhere I go! I even see the dog. That's how fucked up I still am! I look at a German shepherd, I see our goddamn poodle. All right... All right...") Stellar. This was easily the best work I've seen him in. All of that was in comparison to the totally hideous Jack and Jill, which was easily the worst work I've seen him in. I tend to like Sandler's comedies - except for Jack and Jill. They tend to have a heart in them, none more so than in Reign O'er Me. It pulled my heartstrings. His scenes with Don Cheadle were stellar. I loved this film and I'll be looking for a copy of it on Ebay. Sitting here after it ended, I just wanted to thank Sandler for the job he did.
