N.B. In "Cemetery of Splendour" a group of Thai soldiers, including a young soldier Itt, are struck by a supernatural bout of sleeping sickness. Ozu's "An Autumn Afternoon" is virtually a remake of his earlier classic "Late Spring". "City of Life and Death" is about the Japanese massacre of Nanjing. In "The Idiot", Kameda is simple, honest and straight-forward. In "Tony Takitani" a man marries a woman obsessed with clothes, which leads her to a tragic accident.
