Yep.

About my Albert Nobbs review--no fans of Little Britain's Emily and Florence out there, eh?

Iona is a Scottish island in the Hebrides, but in this case it is a woman's name.

French letter = condom.

Carancho is about an accident-claim lawyer and a heroin-addicted doctor.

The Gangster Squad, especially John O'Mara, do a lot of fighting.

These should be read aloud to be enjoyed.

Notes:
Madonna was married to Guy Ritchie when she starred in Swept Away.
Once Upon a Time in Anatolia involves the police driving around to find where suspected murderer Kenan has buried the body.

*chills to theme of Miami Vice

Johnnie To's (Hong Kong's equivalent of Michael Mann) Man jeuk/Sparrow has a very famous scene of pickpocketing in the rain (so famous it's on the film's poster)

Already saw them last round. Just as well that I've seen the film.

1950s America

NB:
"The Bad and the Beautiful" was directed by Vincente Minnelli, Liza's father.
Marilyn Monroe plots the murder of her husband Joseph Cotten in "Niagara" - spoiler - he ends up murdering her in a bell tower designed to signal his death, he ends up falling to his death over the falls.
Ida Lupino directed "The Hitch-hiker".
Sarah hates that her mother is black and pretends to be white in "Imitation of Life".

Skyfall with spoilers

Tonight...We are young
So lets set the world on fire
We can burn brighter than the sun

So if by the time the bar closes
And you feel like falling down
Ill carry you home tonight

So here are my movie Cliff notes:
a) Anonymous: About the theory that it was in fact Edward De Vere, Earl of Oxford, who penned Shakespeare's plays. Set against the backdrop of the succession of Queen Elizabeth I and the Essex rebellion against her.
b) Catfish: Young filmmakers document their colleague's budding online friendship with a young woman and her family. Documentary follows the story, even when they discover things are just NOT what they are supposed to be. This story greatly preceeded the scandal surrounding similar events in the life of college football star Manti Te'o.
c) Cattle Driven to Slaughter: In the Chicago stockyards, the gates of a pen of long-horn cattle are open and the cattle are being herded out by several cowhands, at least two of whom have poles to keep the steers moving in the right direction. 116 year old film produced by the Edison Manufacturing Company.
d) The Shawshank Redemption: Two imprisoned men bond over a number of years, finding solace and eventual redemption through acts of common decency. Said by protagonist Andy Dufresne in contemplating what prison has to offer. Except, instead of living or dying, Andy dug himself right out of prison. According to Red (Morgan Freeman) it took him less than 20 years. In my humble opinion, this may be the best movie ever made.
e) The Social Network: Mark Zuckerberg creates Facebook and runs up against a lot of legal problems. He's being sued for $600 million by his former best friend, Eduardo Saverin. He's also being sued by the Winklevoss twins for allegedly stealing the whole concept. He's trashed an ex-girlfriend in a blog. Basically, he's alienated everyone he's ever known or been friends with. His whole manner just alienates people.

Some P films, including Piece of the Action
which was not nearly as good as Let's Do It Again, even with the same stars and director.
