Posted - 02/17/2013 : 18:46:25 I realise that MERPs are not obliged to give reasons for rejection but it certainly helps to understand the reason. I must have been lucky recently as my rejections have had a reason. This gives a fair chance of retooling the review to a more acceptable standard.
On the other hand if a review is rejected and no reason is given, are we not allowed to resubmit it? After all, a different MERP might think more kindly of it. However, my most recent "second pass" rejection got a rather finger wagging " My colleague rejected this review and you resubmitted it without explanation".
I have been away from the site for some time so maybe things have changed in terms of rules about resubmitting reviews. |

Posted - 02/22/2013 : 08:02:45 I remember YEARS ago, when I submitted an Animal House review that got rejected REPEATEDLY, but that was before we had the explanation box. Eventually, it got appproved, so, yes, we can resubmit reviews.
I think it's probably helpful to explain why I'm resubmitting a review, though. I have to assume that my joke, observation, cleverosity was lost on the MOIPS, so I explain. At least that's what I do. |

Posted - 02/21/2013 : 16:51:14 The comment must be acknowledged - you have to see it move from rejected to pending. The problem is field length so keep comments as tight as possible. The prior version of the site stops echoing characters once you have typed through the field limit. The new site allows you to type forever and doesn't automatically truncate - but then essentially generates an error unseen by the user, and your comment is not seen by the MERPs. |

Posted - 02/20/2013 : 10:34:21 I gotta say though, I got that "my colleague rejected this and you didn't give an explanation" once, but in fact, I DID submit my rationale. Just turns out that it didn't take my explanation when I submitted it. I've noticed that this happens to the explanation on occasion, as there doesn't seem to be a way to check this after you've closed the browser window and reopen it. Not sure how that happens. |

Posted - 02/18/2013 : 00:28:20 On the whole if I believe strongly enough in the review as it stands I'll give supporting evidence in the comments box to help it along to approval, and personally I wouldn't resub without some sort of explanation. Most of the time I tend to agree with the MERPs though - that outside eye and slight change can make the difference. |
