NB: "Evita" is the story of Argentina's beloved Eva Peron. In "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" the title character undergoes a botched sex change operation - hence the rest of the title.
Ball of Fire (1941) was a Howard Hawks screwball comedy (script by Wilder/Brackett) which was actually a riff on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. A burlesque dancer advises a group of stodgy academics who are writing an encyclopedia entry on slang.
Hawks remade it seven years later as A Song Is Born, this time with the encyclopedia article on jazz. Virginia Mayo plays Honey and Danny Kaye is Professor Frisbee. It was not as successful as Ball of Fire but there are some nice performances by musicians of the day.
