Not entirely sure what you're suggesting. But yes, there's a similarity. Why not link every review that puns on "Eva" and "ever"?

Skyfall.

(Warning: spoiler alert - well, just two tiny ones, but still... )

Babette's Feast features grinding poverty (and also obviously food preparation).

Muriel seeks solace by listening to ABBA and steals a dress and some money.

The Angels' Share is about whisky.

Ruby Sparks was written by and stars Zoe Kazan. I don't know whether this is a spoiler (here and in the review), but I'm glad that I did not know about it in advance: it is about her character being brought to life from the mind of another.

Five more musicals

NB:
"Evita" is the story of Argentina's beloved Eva Peron.
In "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" the title character undergoes a botched sex change operation - hence the rest of the title.

Major spoiler for Woody Allen's Interiors both here and in the review: A character commits suicide by walking into the ocean.

Sherlock Holmes:Game of Shadows (with spoilers)

Lemmy in for #875.

Ball of Fire (1941) was a Howard Hawks screwball comedy (script by Wilder/Brackett) which was actually a riff on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. A burlesque dancer advises a group of stodgy academics who are writing an encyclopedia entry on slang.

Hawks remade it seven years later as A Song Is Born, this time with the encyclopedia article on jazz. Virginia Mayo plays Honey and Danny Kaye is Professor Frisbee. It was not as successful as Ball of Fire but there are some nice performances by musicians of the day.

Mixed bag o' goods. Good?

The Manual sez:

> Hello, Dolly! is based on a play called The Matchmaker.

> In Big Miracle, dedicated environmentalists try to free some whales trapped under the ice.

> American Gigolo - what do you call a female pimp? Ask Anne.

> In Almost Famous a rock journalist tours with a band.

> Boleyn - sounds a bit like Berlin, innit.
